“Pet Love to Pet Treats”
In 2016, co-founder Nicole Trowe cared for her friend’s dog, Willie. Willie developed cancer and was visibly in a lot of pain. As each day passed, his energy and vibrant personality faded.
Nicole began adding a little CBD to Willie’s food each day. Soon after, he showed signs of relief and renewed energy, even in the face of his terminal illness.
“A Family Business”
Nicole teamed up with her sister and fellow animal-lover, Emily Trowe. The Trowe sisters got to work developing a formula for a pet treat worth drooling over. They brought their shared experiences in the food service and healthcare industries, and passion for sustainable living.
First, they sourced the highest quality ingredients they could find, carefully selected for optimal holistic benefits. Next, they baked the treats at low temperatures to preserve the integrity of the nutrients and CBD they contained.
The small company started out as “CBDawgs,” with Emily and Nicole testing recipes in their kitchens. Then, the company changed its name to K9 Candy Kitchen (K9CK). As the K9CK grew, so did the Trowe sisters’ approach to formulating products with a responsible and transparent approach. They started with the most crucial ingredient: hemp oil. The sisters wanted to assure their furry clients that health and safety was their number one priority. They knew that many other CBD products already made it into animal bowls everywhere. However, the other brands out there were not transparent about how they sourced their ingredients. In addition, brands weren’t completely transparent about which farms their hemp oil came from.
